Since 1981 Boardmaster's has been an integral part of the British surf scene. From humble beginnings as a small surf competition, it is now one of the biggest events on the professional British surfing calendar; not to mention the music festival. Returning to Watergate Bay and Fistral Beach on Wednesday 10 August, Boardmaster's Festival features some of the finest surfing talent from across Europe.
With a mixture of live music and action sports on the beach, the atmosphere was fun and friendly with everyone enjoying the laid back nature of the event. The surfing itself sadly was not as action packed as I'd hoped. Mother nature was not providing powerful enough waves to propel the finale of the women's long board competition to a dramatic conclusion. Instead they Battled it out in rather tame surf which was a shame but there are some things you cant control.
