Culinary Cornwall: Porthtowan Beach Cafe

After a tiring mornings surf there is no better way to refuel than at the Porthtowan beach café. After returning my rental board back to the hire shop next door I headed to the café for some much needed sustenance.

Nestled in the cliffs right next to the beach the café is an irresistible place to grab lunch. For the best views sit outside on the colourful benches and soak up the sun whilst watching the local surfers walk by. All of the food is made with locally sourced ingredients where possible with the burgers made from the finest Cornish beef from just up the road from the café.

After reading how good the burgers are on the menu it would be rude not to sample them so I went for the 4OZ sea salt and cracked pepper burger. The pure Cornish beef burger came with Monterrey Jack cheese, salad and bbq sauce. Served on a brioche bun with home-made coleslaw and fries. It was absolutely delicious and easily one of the best burgers I have eaten in a while.

The café has such a warm atmosphere and friendly staff I would highly recommend a visit if you are ever near Porthtowan.
